I purchased myself a EEE-PC 1000HE

Let me start by saying it is fantastic, it is still quite small has the same power as the previous model (901) and has a battery life of 9.5 hours somthing ASUS call ‘All day computing’
It has all the features of the previous model which are:
- SD/MMC Card Reader
- 3 USB 2.0 Ports
- Integrated 802.11b/g/n Wireless
- Integrated Bluetooth 2.0
- 10/100 Wired Lan
- 1.3 Megapixel Webcam
- VGA Out
- Headphone/Microphone Jacks
- Windows XP Home SP3 (Standard)
I have installed a multiple boot setup with XP Pro, Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Beta
Hardware Specs:
- Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz CPU
- 2 GB RAM (1 Standard)
- 250 GB HD (160 Standard)
- Intel Mobile 945 Express Chipset (DX 9 Support)
The major difference, excluding screen size, is that it now uses the Intel Atom N280 CPU which was designed specifically for low power situations. This CPU allows it to get its 9.5 hours battery life and makes it perfect for long flights or going several days without a charge
Unlike the EEE-PC 901 the 1000HE is not lacking in the screen size/keyboard size area, its keyboard is quoted as being 92% the size of a normal keyboard which I find to be perfect for fast/touch typing. The screen on the 1000HE, while running the same resolution as the 901 is considerably bigger which means you aren’t constantly leaning forward to read text on the screen.
Conclusion:
As with the previous EEE-PC i had i highly recommend this to anyone who wants a small laptop with fantastic battery life. The advantage of this over the 901 is that it has a decent screen and keyboard size and an even better battery life
